Soft, Smooth Skin: The Secrets

There are two things, and two things only which keep my skin feeling soft and smooth and virtually spot-free so it's clear to see why I swear by them.

Clean and Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash (Clean and Clear, Boots, 150ml, £2.99)

Clean and Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash

This daily wash contains small, exfoliating micro-beads which help to exfoliate skin and clear any build up of dirt etc at the same time. It's great for oily skin types as it dries the skin out enough so that it's ready for moisturiser to be applied without the worry of having a 'shine'. This also helps to keep breakouts at bay and the cleansing action helps to stop them in the first place. This is why it's an absolute must have for me.

Skin Therapy 3in1 Fragrance Free Facial Wipes (Skin Therapy at Wilko, x25pack, £0.57)

Skin Therapy 3in1 Facial Wipes

I've tried a lot of facial wipes in the past and this brand is the only one that seems to work for me. I use these both as a make-up remover because they're gentle on delicate skin i.e around the eyes as well as a general facial cleanser to remove any make-up traces and any surface dirt  before using the Exfoliating Wash to get rid of anything deeper. They have a neutral fragrance and best of all, at 57p each or 2 packs for £1, they're cheap and great if you're on a budget!

So now you know the products, let me tell you the methods I use to keep my skin soft, smooth and spot-free!

  1. Use the facial wipes to remove any make-up - if you weren't wearing any make-up this step is still essential because it gets rid of surface dirt and loosens any that's a bit deeper i.e clogging your pores.
  2. Let your face air dry / dry naturally after using the wipes rather than with a towel.
  3. Wet your face with warm water - ideally the water should be as hot as you can handle it being as this will help to open your pores up (use a flannel soaked in hot water if you can't splash your face)
  4. Apply a PEA-SIZED amount of Exfoliating wash to your hands then apply to your face making sure to focus on your own personal problem areas (e.g mine are my cheeks and forehead)
  5. Use circular motions and really rub it in - the way I think about it is if I can feel the beads on my skin, it's working!
  6. Continue rubbing it in until it starts to become tacky or feel as though it's drying up - this is good!
  7. Leave your face at this stage so the wash acts as a mask almost - I leave it on anywhere between 5-15minutes or until it's dried if you're short on time.
  8. Rinse it off with warm water - similar temperature as in step 3
  9. Grab a towel and dab off the excess water from your face then use that wet area of the towel to really scrub your face dry - be firm with it, your face will probably be red after you finish but it disappears in seconds and it leaves your skin oil-free, soft and smooth and ready for moisturiser.
And you're good to go! :)
